   This is an edit of the first review at the bottom:After reading my first review, which was one star, the company contacted me and was kind enough to send me a new jar of unsweetened pistachio butter. Frankly, I was afraid to open it after how bad the first jar was and waited several days before doing so. I just opened it a little while ago and can only say that it smells and tastes nothing like the first jar that I received. This jar tastes like freshly ground pistachios. It’s great. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars instead of five), is that it isn’t smooth, but has a lot of little nut bits in it. The first jar that smelled and tasted bad was smooth, which is what I need for the pistachio liqueur I want to make. When I made my own pistachio paste for the liqueur it was a lot of work and I was unable to get it as smooth as I wanted, but the liqueur (I got the recipe on YouTube) is so good that my husband and I drank it anyway, so I wouldn’t let the nut bits in this pistachio butter stop me from making it again. And the nut bits in Peppertux Farms pistachio butter are smaller than what I ended up with when I ground my own anyway. I also intend to use it to make pistachio ganache for truffles. It is expensive, but pistachios are expensive and it saves a lot of work having to make it yourself.First review:I don’t know if I received a bad jar or what, but this tasted absolutely terrible. It smelled bad, too. Somewhat like grass and nothing at all like pistachios. I could detect no pistachio taste at all. I question whether this was even made with pistachios. I bought this to make pistachio liqueur, which I’ve made before, but I wanted to avoid all the extra work of blanching the pistachios and popping them out of their skins before grinding them to a paste. This pistachio butter didn’t smell or taste anything like what I’ve made with real pistachios.Judging by the positive reviews (which is why I bought it), I can only think that I received a bad jar, but I don’t know. I would not recommend it.

   Came wrapped tightly in bubble wrap but despite this and the internal seal across the jar, the pistachio oil leaked all over the box it was shipped in. We needed it for a recipe after not being able to find it at local stores so went ahead and used it anyway after a thorough stirring, and it still tasted great. I love that this one compared to other pistachio butters we’ve used has a more vibrant green rather than brown color. It’s very sweet, much more than peanut or almond butter, but we use it as a filling for small sweet rolls with orange blossom water and crushed pistachios so it worked for us not having to use any more sugar.

   Peppertux Pistachio Butter IS TOP NOTCH. As someone who loves to workout and eat clean , this is the perfect product for me to get in my healthy fats. The ingredients are so clean (only 1 or 2 ) ingredients depending on which type you get. Texture and Taste is absolutely amazing! I couldn’t recommend this more!I will now always reach for my Peppertux Pistachio Butter over peanut butter!!

   Update to the below review. The seller contacted me with a refund and sent new product to try. The new product did not have shell fragments and had a solid pistachio-like taste. I wish there was a product somewhere between the Italian “pistachio creme” which is super decadent, and this product which is more on the healthy-tasting side! But this product is what it says it is and had a great experience with the seller. Order this if you need a simple straightforward pistachio butter!Just got a jar of this, splurged for a $20 jar of pistachio butter hopeful it would be worth it. It was inedible with small pieces of pistachio shell throughout. It was also very bitter tasting. :(. Ugh. Gross and choking hazard. Really wanted to like it. Got this for our family with young kids. Very disappointed.

   I’ve tried many kinds of nut butters (peanut butter, almond, cashew) and this pistachio butter is just as delicious on toast. I’m glad I now have another option to mix it up. It was also delicious on my ice cream.

   I am editing the review upon receiving a replacement jar that addressed the bitter taste and grainy texture. Their corrected batch tasted like what I expect pistachio butter to taste like, which are spreadable pistachios. It is definitely sugar free so don’t expect sweet flavor, rather you could adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding agave or honey to the spread. It is not as smooth as peanut butter but it is not grainy either. I am ok with the current texture. Overall, satisfied with the replacement jar and can see myself purchasing the new batch again.Original Review : I know the product said it is unsalted and sugar free, but damn. It has a bitter taste, doesn’t really smell like pistachios, and is super grainy.Genuinely disappointed wanted to like it.

   This stuff is terrific. Sooooo tasty. I can just eat it by the spoonful. But making a sandwich with it and jelly or jam is wonderful. Well, if you love pistachios. Which I do.

   The ad and labelling are wrong. The USDA nutrition panel is wrong,The product is good, but quite salty. There is either not 0mg sodium, or not aninsignificant amount of potassium, as the pistachios were obviously heavily saltedat some point before grinding.Labels and ads should be corrected, I have a product that I can eat, but not my wife.
