The media could not be loaded.

I needed an upgraded smart lock since my old one no longer got updates and the app was left to languish I took a shot at this one for a really attractive price and the fact they have an ecosystem of products made me feel a little better about their future. It’s a really solid smart lock for the price. Offers a little more than my old one and looks more statically modern than my older design lock.Installation was a little tricky for me since I couldn’t get the damn thing to hook onto the door mount but then I realized I didn’t have the locked turned the proper way. If you focus and pay attention it really isn’t a hard install.Auto-unlock works, but like every other smart lock I’ve used it can be a little slow to respond, but it eventually gets there. This isn’t any better or worse than others I’ve used so it’s fine.I have lost wifi connection with the gateway a couple of times, I don’t know why, but one time popping the batteries out fixed it, another time rebooting my router did the trick. Connection otherwise has been stable and hasn’t let me down. I’ve had it for about 5 months and at this point I plan to keep it as long as it stays supported and viable. One thing I wish all these smart locks had was a schedule option so could set a time for auto-lock based on time and day of week. The would be great the couple others I’ve used haven’t had it either. Either that or geo-fenced auto lock would be great as well.Either way, I’m happy with the lock and plan to keep and recommend you give it a shot if you’re in the market for something like this. The price can’t be beat for what you get.Sidebar nitpick: You’ll see in my video how the logo isn’t centered when you unlock the door. Annoys my OCD so I always center it after the fact. Can’t help myself. There’s a little play in my lock so there’s just nothing I can do about it. Not sure it it’d be different on another door. Changes nothing about the functionality.

I like the ability to lock and unlock my door, using my cell phone. I also like being able to share a code for someone else to enter and exit. These are nice because they come with the gateway, so there is not an additional purchase requirement. From the outside, the door looks normal. I also like the alarm if the lock senses it is being tinkered with. The lock ties in nicely with Alexa also. You can use a GPS to automatically lock and unlock them when you leave or return. Or, Alexa can remind you if you leave without locking them. They are rather large, compared to a normal door knob. You can manually open and close them or press the button on the front.

Had them for about a month. Only fear is, they are on the softer side of force. Had an issues on a couple of occasions, where it couldn’t lock. So I had to physically reset it. Only time will tell, if they’ll hold up. But for now, they’re brilliant. Particularly considering the price.

We installed this a little over a month ago and it works well for our rental. During installation, ensure to go slowly and follow all instructions, it took a few tries for us to get it to calibrate properly. Minimal issues with it after install, one time it had trouble locking with a stuck door.

I have 2 of these smart locks + a fingerprint keypad. One with the keypad is for my front door and the second mud room door to the garage. They have worked out great. Installation was a breeze with the app and wizard. My daughter is old enough now to walk to and from school so I didn’t want her to have to have a key and potentially lose it. She is able to use the keypad or her phone to unlock the door. The one to the garage has worked out great as well. When we come home, we use the app to unlock and they kids don’t have to wait for us to get out of the car and unlock the door for them. The app is really great with lots of option. I like seeing all the locks we have in one place. It also allows multiple households – I bought a lock for my parents condo and I can help administer it for them remotely as well as not needing a key when I housesit or visit them. One time I had a friend coming to stay with us for a few days and the app allowed me to create a temporary key for them that they could use their phone to lock and unlock. It worked great as they arrived when we were not home. The smart home integration (we have Alexa) was seamless. Had to install the Bosma skill and it worked right away. By default unlock is turned off which is a good thing because you don’t want an intruder saying “Alexa, unlock front door.” lol. My kids often use the lock door with Alexa. The only negative is for the front door I am on my 3rd lock. Where my parents and my mud room door is still original (> 2 years). If you have an older house and maybe it has settled if your door lock is not flush with the frame the motor on the lock has to work extra hard to lock and unlock and it wears it out. To prevent this I tried to make sure the door is closed properly so hopefully the 3rd lock will be good. I still love this lock.

I’m guessing I twisted and turned the device on my own before installing and I probably should not have. Lesson learned: Don’t play with it before installing! Bosma was kind enough to tell me to return and ask for a replacement and that is what I did.The second device arrived, and after having installed the first one with no luck, at least I now knew how to install it! But a simple thing happened to stop it! It was extremely humid that day and the provided tape simply didn’t hold, and the tape gave way as I was trying to unscrew the bolts, th deadbolt fell out of the door! Warning: DO NOT INSTALL ON A HUMID DAY!I paired it with my Echo devices, and can ask any of them to lock/unlock the door. I love that! Plus, the Bosma or Alexa app lets me set up lock/unlock based on location, and that has worked well, too!The device itselt is huge! But I can eyeball it and know my door is locked which I didn’t always know when I had the monochromatic thumb lock. Plus my phone would now tell me if the lock was blocked or the door was ajar. I do like having that level of security since I have left the door unlocked and/or ajar overnight! It happens!9/20 update: I added the keypad. It is what I imagined it would be. One finger touch and the door unlocks! This especially good if I’m just working in my yard and not “gone” waiting for auto-unlock.I’m happy about it except for one thing. Whether you choose to drill holes or simply use the tape to fix to a wall, neither one is more secure than the other because you can lift the device right off of the holder! I took this picture with it mounted next to my Ring doorbell, which is fixed, and cannot simply be lifted off. That is what I wish this pad was like. I’ll live with it. Also, look at my pictures. The tiny little screw driver that you will need again when it comes time to replace batteries — where am I going to keep it? Because if you don’t, you won’t be able to change batteries. While it is very good and easy to set up, I imagine maintaining it might not be so easy as the indoor unit will be.

The product was moderately easy to install. I bought it mostly for the auto unlock feature, but that feature works correctly perhaps half the time. You have to be away from the door by some fairly large distance for this to work. I totally leave my house, and am miles away. When I return, the door is supposed to automatically unlock as you get close to it. It works as advertised perhaps half the time. Of the rest of the time, it doesn’t immediately unlock, but may after some period of time. This is perhaps 25% of the time. Pulling out my phone and getting it close to the lock may or may not improve this. The remaining 25% of the time, I have to unlock it, usually using the app. But that doesn’t always work either, and there are times when I have to resort to using the key. So you still always need to carry a key.The auto lock feature is stupid. Many times, I’m temporarily outside to do something and don’t need the door locked. Because the auto unlock feature only works if you truly leave, it means using the app or a key to unlock (with the auto lock feature if you don’t leave home). But they do have a “delay” feature that you can use to lock the door. I set the delay to 3 or 4 seconds. Press the button to lock, shut the door, and it then locks after the delay. Since the lock knows if the door is shut, a better feature would be to press the button, and the door would lock when it is shut. But that feature doesn’t exist. After having the lock for several months, I noticed that the deadbolt was loosening. So I took the unit off to tighten the screws. This set off a process that took about 30 minutes to get right. The lock sounded a siren. Then needed to be recalibrated, which took several tries. I think I now have it back in working shape. In summary, the auto unlock feature doesn’t always work, and even using the app to unlock isn’t 100%. So you still need to always carry a key. The auto lock feature is stupid, and the work arounds could be better. The lock is a good idea, and works well when it works. It just doesn’t always work – at a fairly high rate (say 25%). The screws loosened after a few months, and fixing that was a frustrating process.I got this on sale at half off. The sale seems to happen fairly regularly, and I would not pay full price for this product. Overall, I can’t recommend it, although at half price, it may be worth it if you can put up with it not always working.

The Aegis Smart Door Lock is just what the doctor ordered for those of us old enough to continually forget to lock doors and lazy enough to not want to walk across the house to lock them!!The Aegis is really very simple to install and set-up with Alexa. You can actually set a routine to lock the door so you really don’t need to remember to do it manually. The auto-lock and unlock feature works without fail and is also very easy to set-up.I really like the idea of being able to give house guests their own access so I don’t necessarily need to give them a key.Being able to lock or unlock the door while at work or if i completely forgot to lock the door, is fantastic. The Aegis is the least expensive and easiest to install and use option I found for a smart lock. Thanks Bosma!!! I love the Aegis and am looking forward to adding the keypad and finger print reader as well.

I’ve had the Bosma Smart Lock for a year and a half now. What I really like the most about this smart lock is the capability to lock my door from anywhere at any time. I work away from home some days and I love being able to lock my door remotely to keep my family safe. Another thing I like about this lock is the alerts you get when the door is opened, closed, and left ajar. It just gives you an idea of who’s coming and going from your home. One thing I would recommend if you purchase this lock is to get lithium batteries because they last longer and you won’t have to change out batteries so often.

I selected this product over August mainly because of price. Installation was super quick and easy and I had zero issues connecting to blue tooth/wi-fi. The lock itself and the app work flawlessly. However, I do not like that every time I manually unlock the door (not with the button) I can hear the motor engage. I feel this is unnecessary and adds to the wear and tear of the motor for no reason. The other issue I have is that the weather stripping on my door pushes the door slightly so the deadbolt catches very slightly every time it locks (worse when it’s humid out) so the motor tries to lock the door but it fails every time so I have to push the door in or pull it if I’m outside, so that it locks. This defeats the handsfree purpose. I guess this is not the product’s fault but if the motor was stronger, then it wouldn’t be a problem. I do have a concern with auto lock that I need to test. If I go take out the trash without my phone or key, will it lock me out of the house? For that reason, I have auto-lock disabled because that would really suck. I guess I can yell at Alexa from outside and hope that works? IDK.
