    * Go to YouTube* Search for creator: My Spring Lullaby* Look for their video called: Cupid – Fifty Fifty* Look in the author’s video description. This will take you to the app from your app store. The instructions that come with the piano will have a username and password. Enter it.This little piano is beautiful! Even though I’m terrible at it, it still sounds beautiful.

The kalimba may be the perfect instrument for those of us who love music but don’t have any real musical talent. I had never even heard of one before, but being someone who has an elementary knowledge of piano, I figured why not?The kalimba is a thumb piano that originates from Africa. It has a wooden body with a series of metal tines that are plucked with the thumbs to produce different notes. The kalimba’s unique sound can be very soothing and calming. In the hands of an excited elementary aged child it can be maddening. But at least it’s not that loud?I recently got my hands- and thumbs!- on a kalimba, and I have to say, it’s pretty cool. Without too much effort, you can even learn to pick out some almost recognizable tunes. It’s small, it’s portable, and it sounds really cool. Just expect to have to go online for a little more training and instruction than what arrives with the instrument. The accompanying songbook is tricky because it is filled with songs I just don’t know. They have titles that might make you think they are American standards, but they aren’t. It isn’t hard though to find very simple songs to learn to play online. I have not yet downloaded the app that is mentioned in the product description since I don’t see the name of the app mentioned anywhere and having to email the company for a code feels like a small annoyance that I will put off for another day. When that day comes though, I feel like the attached phone holder will be handy. I like that when I am not using it, it can be easily removed and does not seem to affect the appearance of the kalimba at all. The weight of the bracket and phone does make it a little difficult to hold the instrument so the faster you can learn to play without the attachment, the happier you will probably be.I like to practice my kalimba during really boring zoom meetings because I can hide the small instrument easily out of range of the camera. It is a relaxing, melodic sound that covers up the unending drone of meetings that could have been an email. FInd your zen, friends.

I’ve wanted one of these beautiful little instruments for a while now and getting to test one out for a review was just wonderful! The quality is amazing! The sound is pleasant and beautiful!,It’s tuned well upon arrival but the app is a bit glitchy with tuning. I would have liked to have some kind of tuning instructions or tutorial link to help out with learning about the INS and outs of tuning the instrument. The app isn’t American origin so it’s a bit of a pain to get it done and set up and even then the English version still needs a lot of translation done.9/10 because of the lack of detailed instructions of how to tune, how to properly use the little blue silicone things and how to store and care for properly.

The instrument itself is interesting, and I wanted to learn to play it. It comes with a year of access to their app, but that is when the fun went away. You can set the app to English, but only after some message that comes up in Chinese requires you to answer, and you can’t cancel the dialog. I think I quit and restarted, and then got to a point where I could select English. However, most of the app is still in Chinese, including the lessons. I tried to start the lessons, and it seems from context that you need to choose to download them, but once I did that, I didn’t find a way to start the lesson. I did somehow manage to start some of the songs from the library, which also require downloads but eventually we’re able to start. The songs play like Guitar Hero where the notes fall down and you are supposed to hit the keys at the right time. It is pretty effective, though it doesn’t line up perfect with my phone. Some of the tracks have musical accompaniment, which is great. The phone clip, however, doesn’t screw in tight enough to keep the clip upright, so I have to play on my desk to keep the phone oriented correctly. If I understood the app, I would probably enjoy the experience more. Also, the app doesn’t seem to remember your login information, so you have to retype the random userid and password they give you if the app is restarted. Not cool…

Pretty interesting, I’m still trying to learn more about how to play it. It sounds good to me but I have nothing to compare it to, I never had one of these before. It’s pretty cool, the only thing is that the app is a little complicated to use

The kalimba itself actually isn’t bad, surprisingly good tone for being solid and a perfect candidate for a piezo pickup, which I’ll probably do and try it through a guitar amp for fun. It actually arrived in tune, which is a first. But, the mount is really flimsy and I had a lot of problems with the app randomly crashing. I never could figure out why and just removed it and used YouTube.Overall not bad and a fantastic idea. But a better mount and more stable app would make this really good beginner kalimba.

This is very pretty and has a nice crisp sound. It came with tools to be able to tune it but I struggled to get that done and here is why;The app that they provide you access to is predominately done in what I can only assume is Chinese. There is a link on the app to convert to English but I can tell you, even after converting it, there was a lot that was still unable to be understood. So, I decided to download a different chromatic tuner. I was able to get half of it narrowed down to be considered “in tune” the other half though, no matter how many times I tried to to hammer it higher or lower, I couldn’t get it in tune. Eventually I just got frustrated and just put it down. The highest of the notes on the far right and far left are very flat sounding but it may be fixable or tunable in the right hands, it’s just mine are not the right hands.Even if I cannot get it tuned perfectly, it still sounds pretty and is a source of enjoyment for me and my kids. I think this a beautiful instrument with a great sound! I think anyone could enjoy this instrument. whether you’re 5 years old or 50! I recommend this for anyone and everyone!

This product was cool and all and it worked but it got really annoying and wasn’t that loud so i would just keep that in mind before you decide to buy!

The first thing I did was compare this kalimba to my 30 year old kalimba. They sound very similar, with that clear, beautiful music box sound, except this instrument lacks a resonator, being mounted to solid plank. I was actually surprised at how good it sounds considering that, just a little quieter. This is a great kalimba to learn and play around on.But the real draw on this is the app to help you learn, and that was a major letdown. I looked for it on the Google Play app store, and it’s not there. So, I tried the QR code, which downloaded the Tencent app store, which is notorious for, let’s say, problematic apps. It’s also very hard to access in Chinese for an English speaker. As the kids say these days, it’s sus.I can’t speak to the app if I can’t use it, and as it’s a major part of the product, it really reduces the value overall.

This 17 keys kalimba was a pleasure to play with and for beginners like myself. The unit sounds great but did need a little tunning but that was easy as it was included as well. The phone attachment easily attaches to the top and secures the phone easily. However, with a phone attached, its weight increases quite a bit. I have enjoyed learning to play as well as my kids do too. It is indeed a good beginner kalimba.
